stitches take 2

Well..... Monday night (April 21st, the night before we left for CA) at 9:30 Porter fell in the garage and gashed open his little head right down to the skull. The other kids were already in bed. Abbey asleep already, Tuck came out to what happened, he always needs to be informed. Our neighbors on either side of us were asleep or gone. So we called an old neighbor (Dave Logan) who rushed down and off we went. Tim drove like a bat out of hell! We pulled into the urgent care just before they closed. The nurse had the door open waiting for us. I asked how she knew we needed the door open? She replied, "When people are driving like that we just know." with a smile. Tim said he didn't think he was driving like that. She just smiled at him and shrugged. So they numbed him up with some thick goo stuff and let it sit for FOREVER!!!! which was for his benefit of course. And then they put in 5 stitches, they were pretty fat ones and farther apart. They don't need as many in the hair cuz you won't see the scar and the skin is fat. They couldn't do staples cuz the gash was too big. Here is a link to the pic if you want to see it. This pic is pre-stitching and not for the faint. http://picasaweb.google.com/julie.jenkins/20080423DisneyDay1And2/photo#5195470507701674226

We got home about midnight and still had to finish packing ugh! I think we crawled into bed just before 1 Am. Porter woke up crying around 2:45 and I bolted into him worried of course as mothers do about concussions and puking. He just needed to be comforted. Of course then I was all awake again and didn't really sleep the rest of the night. It sure was an adventurous way to start a vacation!!! We left our house at 4:30AM to get on our flight by 6:30. So needless to say we were running on FUMES!!! And we even went to Disneyland that very day, I know crazy? But we had a grand time. And now I need to finish claiming my house back so you will have to wait for the next Disney segment to come :)

Here is one of my favorite pics from our trip!!

Gloria

  • Tucker: Mom there's such thing as real giants, right?
  • Me: No not really.
  • Tuck: Uh-huh! there is such thing as giants, like Gloria.
  • (who the heck is Gloria? there are those big guys in movies)
  • Me: well, I guess there are.
  • Tuck: there are. Like back in the day of Gloria!
  • (who the heck is Gloria?)
  • Me: Who is Gloria?
  • Tuck: You know, David and Gloria!

Me: trying to keep my laugh to a minimum and not hysteria like I felt like! i actually did laugh out loud I couldn't help it, I tried really hard to minimize it.

Okay if you aren't laughing right now, either you don't get it or you are just not normal, of course what is normal?

NEW BED

Drum roll please......
Our new bed is here!!!! It is sooo beautiful I just love it! Too bad it wasn't up and ready for those Disney phone call pictures this morning. I just finished making it a took a few pics to share. Now my bedding is looking even shabbier than it did before. Tim won't want to hear that new I "need" (okay want) new bedding.

Disney phone calls

Well you are all probably getting sick of hearing about our upcoming Disney trip, well then don't read :-) But we all seem to have Disney on the brain at our house!

This morning we had a phone call from Mickey,Minnie & Goofy! The kids were thrilled. After words Tucker said "I can't believe I just talked to Mickey." It was very fun to see them "think" that all those characters are there waiting just for them and that they "know" we are coming. What a magical experience already and we haven't even left. Abber asked before bed tonight if we should pack her suitcase! So cute. knowing her mother like I do it won't be long before we actually do!

This is tucker hearing the news that we will be FLYING to California instead of driving, being the little "pilot" that he is he was very excited! These were taken monday 3-31. Abbey had been home from school when I booked everything so she already knew.

Tucker's Disneyism

for those of you who frequent our little blog, check out the previous post I've updated the pics, I had somehow put the same pics in twice :)

NOW THE DISNEYISM

Well I posted what Abbey said about walking to Disneyland...well here's what Tucker's little mind came up with. A little background info first. When we get to the airport we will need to take a "SHUTTLE" to the car rental place.

Tucker woke up and when he came into my bathroom as I was barely awake he asked me "Mom how are we going to get on our rocket after we get off the airplane?" I had no idea what he was talking about, as I said I was barely awake. I was about to ask what he meant when I had a light bulb moment. ROCKET-SHUTTLE. It was all I could do to only let out a chuckle instead of a belly laugh. Poor kid had in his mind that we were first going on an airplane followed by a ROCKET to our rental car and then finally to Disneyland all in one day. He took the news pretty well that what he thought was a rocket was merely a weird little bus called a "shuttle."

So glad for this blog to write things in, I've never been good with a journal :)

{UPDATED} Easter

WHEN I FIRST POSTED THIS I PUT THE SAME PICS TWICE, THERE ARE NEW PICS ON THE BOTTOM NOW. THEY ARE REALLY CUTE TOO!!!!

I've put captions by the pictures

These are of our ward Easter egg hunt, Easter Eve, and Egg hunt at Grandma and Grandpa Sanders house. You see the Easter bunny came while the kids were reading stories with Dad and I was 'reading a book' in my room. So the kids found all their goodies the night before. What a nice bunny it sure made 9 o'clock church a lot easier. The bunny left through the basement window is all we can figure because I heard a loud noise down there and that's where they found their bike helmets. I was down there when I heard the noise, I had "forgotten" something if you catch my drift.

Disneyland

We finally booked our trip! Everyone who knows that we've been planning to go would ask when and I would say hmm don't know. Well now I do! April 22-28 and we are FLYING! So excited about that and so are the kids. Last night we talked about our trip a lot and the kids were so excited they wanted to leave NOW. So I told Abbey she could go now but she had to walk there since our plane tickets weren't for today. And her reply "I don't know where Disneyland is!" I wish I could post her tone of voice too. It was a DUH mom how would I get there if I don't know where it is, not that it would be hared to walk, oh no that was never a concern in her little mind.

Happy Birthday (thirty something, Tim's new nickname for me)

I had the best Birthday ever! It started out with a delicious brunch which I didn’t have to cook! Wait no it started the night before when I went out to dinner with some fab friends who I will miss dearly (well when it comes to church stuff anyway, but I hope to still see them all!!!) They took me out as a farewell dinner and for my birthday. It was so nice just to sit, eat, talk and have a great time. We went shopping too and I found the cutest dress for Easter, well okay I didn’t exactly find it I was looking for it I knew that target had it because my cute niece McKenna has it for Easter too LOL. Yes and she is 11, and I have the same dress, no I didn’t get it in the little girls department she is just grown up enough to shop in the ladies department. Well we both have good taste is all I can say.
Okay now it started out with brunch made by my cute Hubby and kids, delicious bacon and eggs with toast and OJ. MMMMM Good! Tim asked what I wanted to do, it was my day! I told him I wanted some things in the basement done. He thought I was crazy, but with out those things done I couldn’t get much done the next week and they were things I couldn’t do myself. So he and Tucker went to work, it didn’t take them long at all my great fix-it guys.
While I was in the shower the kids were downstairs playing in the playroom (which was now possible thanks to said job) and Tim was using his laptop. We can hear the kids from our bedroom since there is a cold air return. WELL….. I heard Porter outside of the bathroom door as I got out of the shower and when I opened it up he had a cute little white mustache and white hands. Fear struck me! As a mother I knew it wasn’t going to be good and upon evaluation I was right! It was SUGAR! Yes you read correctly SUGAR!!!! The pantry door had been left open and he had had a grand time playing in the sugar bucket and transporting it into a drawer, the hallway table and even later I saw his semi truck with compartments for cars in Abbey’s room with, you guessed it, SUGAR in and on it and some on the trundle of her bed. AHHHHH it wasn’t the present I was expecting but it sure makes a great story!

The pic of Porter by the dryer was him smiling up at me when I went to get him out of time-out. Who can stay mad at that face?
We then went to Ikea and looked around we even looked at headboards a bit. After that we decided to go to RCWilley and see if they had any headboards. Well the one on 90th had their clearance section back and Tim and I were in HEAVEN!!! And even better there was a headboard we both liked and we liked the price too. So now we have a headboard after 10 years of marriage and I’m ecstatic. It was our late anniversary gift to ourselves. The sides had to be ordered so it’s not put together YET. I’ll post pics when it’s all up and pretty, okay well it won’t be too pretty with the comforter we have right now but you can’t get everything at once!
Then we went to eat at Spaghetti Mama’s and if you haven’t been their I highly recommend it! Their salad dressing is so yummy and I love the mizithra cheese and mushroom sauces I had. As we left Tucker said I thought that said spaghetti mammals! Funny kids, he also thought the menu said slimy fries instead of smiley fries. Good laughs!
(There are pics of Abbey's new bed in the slide show also)

Cheese

The Wednesday after we moved (March 5th) we decided we needed to do something fun as a family. So we escaped the box mess and went to Chuck E Cheese!!! We had a ball! It was sooo much fun! We had more tokens than we needed for one night and we used lot. Our trick? internet coupons, and not just the ones you get off their site, sign up for the email coupons they ROCK! The kids know we get to go back and play again because we still have more tokens left. Porter Loved the monster truck and could have stayed in there all night. Well until Chucky came by. Poor Chuck E. couldn’t get Porter off of him. He STALKED the poor mouse. When the other kids were done with Chuck E he would pay attention to Porter some more, he was really cute with him. Just as we were leaving Chuck E. happened to walk by and Porter did not want to go home with us anymore!

Heals anyone?

Porter loves playing dress-up with Abbey. Well mostly just dressing up his feet. Her shoes are so easy for him to get on and off. He loves it when I say “Hi Abbey” if he’s wearing her shoes. Well after the move needless to say things were everywhere and he found these babies of mine and LOVED wearing them. He posed just perfectly for these pictures! He will hate them in a few years, aren’t moms great getting these lovely pictures of their kids? It was hard to get the shoes away from him, I didn’t want him to get hurt trying to walk in them.

Handy kids

Tim brought home a hand truck to help us start moving heavy things around and to get lots of boxes up at one time. The kids had a ball with their “rides”. It even converted into a dolly and they had so much fun going around and around the house with daddy.
